My Aunt Lili, a faux painter from Louisville, Kentucky, and my mom came to Midland last weekend to begin working on the baby's nursery. It was so much FUN!!! They had so many creative, wonderful ideas & the room is such a happy, whimsical, imaginative place now. I just know the baby will love it too! The background paint color is Romaine green. The stripes are done in a lighter, lacewing green in a dry brush technique & go up about 3/4 of 2 walls. Then, she added ric-rac (sp?) ribbon to the wall as a border & handpainted buttons of various shapes & glued them to the ribbon to give the room texture & interest. Lili also painted the ceiling with an incredible paint that has glass beads in it & when she mixed it up with various tints & used a special method to put it on the ceiling, it made the glass beads break apart & spread out. They reflect the light & it truly looks like a sky in the ceiling. It's elegant & beautiful & like someone took a picture of a pretty sky & blew it up to glue on the ceiling- very real looking & peaceful! Then, I painted part of Psalm 139 on two of the walls. Finally, they decided to turn our boring, plain jane white built-in bookshelves & desk into a "McKenzie-Childs" look alike handpainted furniture. I love it! As for fabrics, I'm going with some pretty greens & fun black & white patterns. You can see the fabric swatches pinned on the wall.
