Before...

Watching my boys play golf last night


Apparently, a mommy is a good foundation for a tower of blocks, topped with a matchbox car. And also, she makes a good seat. Because it only makes sense that to build your tower, one ought to repeatedly climb up on top of & sit on the foundation's legs - rather than beside them on the floor.

Before I had a little boy, I never knew:

• the pure joy that comes from watching a bug... & smashing it
• that standing outside my car, in 100 degree heat, with someone sitting on my shoulders for about 15 minutes, twice today, and watching the solid waste truck send up its ramp ("up up up!") & pick up the recycling bins in the parking lot of Albertson's could be so fun & exciting!
• (ps- recycling with your toddler can be lots of fun - toddlers love sorting & that is a great pre-writing/reading/math skill... plus they can look for shapes, colors, letters, & numbers)
• that being the base for someone's tower could be so fun (not to mention relaxing getting to lay down before dinner)
• how many trucks & "big trucks" & "bikes" & "bikecycles" there are on the streets of our town at any given moment
• that watching airplanes take off & land at the nearby private plane airfield is so exciting
• that I would allow someone to come into the bathroom with me & proceed to drive their matchbox car & matchbox motorcycle up my legs, my stomach, down my arms, etc... all while I am using the restroom
• This is what we did today- I love having a little boy in my life!

A Few of My Favorite Things

Will & I ALWAYS cuddle before & after nap time & bed time. I am so thankful he is such a cuddler. However, it's been a while since he's fallen asleep on me. The other day, after a nearly 3 hour nap, he fell asleep on me during our couch cuddle time.

So I grabbed the camera.

Is there anything better in the whole wide world than a soft, warm, sweet smelling baby boy asleep on your chest?!?

You know what I really love? I love how perfectly Will fit against me when he was hours old and less than 6 lbs, when he was days, & weeks, & months old. And somehow, though he is nearly 20 months old and 23 lbs, he still fits just perfectly.

Of course, I also love attending a concert in the privacy of my own home.

Will now does all the motions for the "happy" song ("If You're Happy & You Know It.") Apparently, he does not do them all for me on camera. I especially like when he throws a tantrum during the "happy" song -clearly he doesn't quite grasp the meaning of the song!
