Playing Instruments for Jesus
Recently, I started helping out in our church nursery to aid Will when he was having trouble standing up. Now, of course, he is standing up on his own but I was having so much fun that I just keep going with him! Last week, our fabulous nursery coordinator & good friend, Stevie (mom of Jayce, Jak, & Jude's blog), was sick & gave me the chance to recycle my old teaching skills & creativity (perhaps she was tired of my many idea emails?) She was so gracious to let me put together some games & crafts & a parade for Palm Sunday. I had so much FUN planning! I love being a stay at home mom but that is probably the part I miss most about teaching, besides working with teenagers... the planning & creating. I loved brainstorming Palm Sunday ideas & then implementing them with the kids - made possible by two very good friends in the room (thank you, Ashlee & Rachael!!!) as well as my mom who is visiting.
So, for Palm Sunday, we made donkey puppets (Matt. 21- Jesus rode a donkey into Jerusalem), "psalm palms" -for praising Jesus, & we all played musical instruments & talked about praising Jesus. I don't know how much the kids actually learned but I'm pretty sure they can all say "he-haw" really loudly! We also learned how to play follow the leader & then our grand finale was a walk through our sanctuary at the end of "big church" waving palm branches. The kids did great & I think the adults were rather surprised to see the toddlers going through big church as opposed to the older kids! (And I was rather surprised the parade actually worked!) It was so much fun!

So cute Katie--it warms my heart to see Will playing with his buds and dancing, etc. You are a great teacher...keep it up sister!
You bless so many by your spirit and creativity and heart.
love you-ejw
I cannot begin to tell you how happy it made me to see the kids waving their palm branches! Thar's a fond childhood memory of mine, so I loved seeing my kids doing the same. Thank you, thank you for all you're doing for my girls!
I am never tired of your idea emails or phone calls. Putting that curriculum together is only a small part of my job each week so I very much appreciate all of the help I can get! I'm glad Jayce & Jak's palms worked out for the parade! We kept adding on more popsicle sticks thinking they weren't sturdy enough. I figured if they were "Jantz boy proof" then they would be "Toddler proof" as well. You guys made Palm Sunday so special. I'm thankful for you gals to take care of business for me when I'm not available! THANKS for being my #1 Volunteer. ;)
