R decided to let Will & I stay a few extra days in FL & we took him up on it. I rationalized that I don't have too many years left where I can extend a vacation & not have to worry about my kid missing school. So, he rearranged our flights (thankfully, no change fees on SW!) & my mom drove us to the airport in New Orleans. Then, my mom & R decided to treat Will & I to some fun in the "Big Easy" & a great hotel.
We had so much fun exploring the French Quarter & watching riverboats on the Mississippi (or, according to Will, the "Mizippi River."
We especially loved the aquarium. It was so hands-on & a blast to explore!

Checking out Dory & Nemo
I loved how everytime Will walked up to an aquarium, he would introduce himself to the fish. He would say, "Hi Nemo (his word for anything with a fin), "Will" (while pointing to himself.) So funny!
My little prince
Touching a snake (nonpoisonious)
Checking out the albino alligator
Feeding the stingrays- he does a great impression of this when he tells the story of the "ingrays"
Petting a nurse shark - he didn't seem too impressed with his mom when I told him I swam with nurse sharks off the coast of Belize in high school

He was so excited to see a picture of "Jesus the pirate!" (He's still convinced that Johnny Depp is Jesus although he now believes he is also a pirate. The kid's got some screwed up theology going on! :))
He LOVED riding the trolley!
I do know that if he were a bit older, he might have created a great story to explain his hand differences based on this picture...
Enjoying breakfast at Cafe Du Monde
Poor kid - couldn't tempt him to eat a beignet! He was too mesmerized by the entertainers on the street.
He has no idea he missed out on such goodness.
Waiting for our trolley (it was pouring down rain & steamy - excuse the blurry, steamy pic!)
A WIPED out kid on the airplane- he was asleep before we even took off!
Laughing at mommy in a mardi gras mask
Exploring the feather boas & some of the beads. He loved the beads with firetrucks. I had to steer him away from some of the highly inappropriate beads. Are you kidding me that people would wear these things with various forms of anatomy on them?!?!
At R's office, they like to send out emails titled, "food porn." Usually it's a picture of a yummy meal they are eating with a client - like a great steak or something. Sometimes, R is working so hard that all he has to take a picture of is peanut butter crackers!

I introduce, my first food porn pic-
an olive mufaletta with red beans & rice!
YUMMY!!!
Will, by the way, LOVES red beans & rice & sausage.
Will enjoyed dancing along with this little girl, Scarlett, to the band at our restaurant on the French Quarter. He gave them a dollar & requested "Twinkle Twinkle" - which they happily played for him. Scarlett informed Will (in a very southern accent- fitting for her name) that she was going to give him a "hug & a kiss" - which she did!
However, she couldn't be parted from her dinosaur to actually dance with Will.
Mommy & Will sharing a dance
He was fascinated with the trombone player- he must have given the man 30 high fives.
Another trolley ride
Some people might be annoyed to explore a city in the rain. I loved it. Living in the Frontier where we don't get too many rainy days, I was in heaven. (Although, it would have been better if I had remembered my stroller!)
We took Will to his first IMAX movie. He loved the popcorn but would not let me wear my 3D glasses. Every time I put them on, he would say, "Mommy, glasses off." I think they freaked him out. The picture was rather blurry without them - not sure how he did it. Every time I tried to sneak on my glasses, he would check me as if he didn't trust me & tell me to take them off.
