I'm pretty sure I've only taken 2 pictures of Will in all of 2010! That is a record!!! And, for once, I am virtually speechless- I literally have nothing to say or blog about. (And yet, somehow, I keep typing.)
We've been busy, I suppose- meetings & appointments & swimming lessons & therapy & haircuts (for Will & the dog - I seem to only find time for my own haircuts about twice a year.) Will had a horrible double ear infection last week that was not cured by the first round of antibiotics so we spent most of the week awake with him at night... & napping when I could during the day.
I have managed to get some work done finally on his scrapbook - in fact, I'm all the way to month 12!!!!!! Yahoo - almost done with that.
Our study shower has erupted- on two different days! The plumbers just left again. It makes a belching sound & then all kinds of dirt comes up through the drain & it's soaked my carpet outside the bathroom. It's just lovely. They want to send a camera down the drain to check it out. At first, I thought they were suggesting they use our wonderful, expensive video camera. Turns out, plumbers have a special plumbing camera for such purposes. Good to know. Maybe we'll do that & they'll let me borrow the memory card so I can post some pictures finally.
Will has been "cowboy Will" for most of the week from the moment he wakes up until he closes his eyes - he is sleeping with his cowboy hat, his horse, & his cow. He spends a great deal of time playing with his farm animals and helping the smaller ones nurse off the bigger ones - yes, he's always been fascinated by breasts, I suppose. He even educated the woman behind us in line at the store the other day about his cow's udder & their purpose.
(At one point, he named the cow "mommy" due to her posession of an udder... I squelched that as fast as I could & we renamed her Bessie. I refuse to allow a cow to be named after me!)
I also managed to not only do this week's laundry, but to fold it & put it up - all in the same day! And, the next day, I put up last week's folded laundry which had simply been sitting in the basket all week. Martha would die - as would some of my friends who somehow have triple the kids I do & therefore, tons more laundry & yet manage to do it so much more efficiently than I. Oh, I long for summer days when we wear nothing but swimsuits every day - or in Will's case, when he can play outside practically naked.
And, finally, while R was out of town on business the other day, Will managed to lock himself in our study bathroom - which I had just mopped up from the mess of the eruptions & plumbers. I panicked & nearly called 911 but held it together (barely) while the little genius figured out how to unlock the door. Good thing someone around here can think calmly in a scary situation. Unfortunately, that person is two feet tall.
And then I bragged to his therapist today about how he unlocked the door quickly all by himself - you know, since he doesn't exactly have pincher fingers or 7 fingers it's kind of amazing, really. It's nice & confusing as a mom when you can't decide if you should praise an amazing feat or discipline the kid.
Perhaps I'll take some pictures & we'll do something interesting around here to post about soon.
Or maybe, I'll just stick to my new goal of doing the entire job of laundry all in a day. (And that is not a New Year's Resolution - how sad would it be to make my NYR about laundry - plus - it would further remind me of my inadequacy & insecurities about my housekeeping abilities!) My new year's resolutions are, instead, finishing that scrapbook, printing out the blog in case the internet dies in 2012 or something & I lose all thoughts I've had for the last 3 years & I forgot the rest - not a good sign.
Well, now that you've wasted a full 3 minutes of your life that you will never see again, I shall go. I'm sorry.

I enjoyed your posts about this and that and laundry--makes me feel better that we're all in the same domestic boat...and if it gets done it gets done. All that matters is that you're being a good wife and mother...and I think you are excelling in those categories. As you know laundry can wait...sometimes R and W can not! :)
I too like to do Walker's laundry and even Forrest's--but I hate putting mine away--wonder why?
I def. have hit nesting phase...everyone's laundry (except mine) is pretty much done and even the new baby has clean clothes and somewhat organized drawers of them and clean blankets--get excited! :)
Happy Friday!
love ya'll-ejw
