At bedtime tonight, Will & I were rocking & talking and the following conversation occurred about the babe in my womb:
Will: "Mommy, can I pet her?" (he almost always refers to the baby in the feminine)
Me: "Yes, you can after he or she comes out of my tummy?"
Will: "When the baby comes out, I can pet her? Is she an animal?"
Me: "No, she or he is a people like you. Would you like to go with Daddy & I to see Dr. D. & look at the baby in my tummy next week?"
Will: "Yes, I would! But Dr. D is not going to check our baby's ears!" (I love how he often refers to the baby as "our baby!")
Me: "No, Dr. D. is not going to check the baby's ears. You don't like to have your ears checked, do you Will?"
Will: "No. And I will teach the baby to climb in my fort and play baseball. Babies go night-night a lot don't they Mommy?"
Me: "Yes, babies sleep a lot." (Though not for as long as a stretch as I often wished!)
Will: "But when the sun comes up, the baby will wake up and have breakfast like me!"
Me: "Yes but the baby will need milk from Mommy for breakfast."
Will: "Yes they will. But when she is a big boy, she can have a baseball breakfast bar like I do!"
Then, he wanted to pray & he thanked God three times for "our baby!"
Love these conversations! He will be a great big brother!
