My "Prenatal" Swimming Class

I've taken to swimming daily since school got out & love it! It's nice to feel weightless and cool! Plus the baby seems to enjoy the water- lots of kicking!
In fact, there is a huge aquatic center near my house (it has 3 olympic size pools) & I joined a "prenatal" swimming class this week. The funny thing is that so far, I'm the only prego - all of the other women are age 60+! (I'm working on recruiting some more preg peeps!) Apparently, there weren't enough pregnant women to sign up so they are putting me in with another class & just giving me some modifications! For instance, I've learned that it is actually quite painful for a 6 1/2 month pregnant gal to jump up with both legs & pull her knees to her chest. Don't try that at home!
So much for meeting other young moms to be! I've really enjoyed the morning workout, however. It feels fantastic & hopefully will make labor & recovery easier (not that I have anything to compare it to yet!) Next week, we move to class 4 times a week & two of those days will be in an outside pool. Tanning while working out- I love multitasking! :)
When I'm not swimming to work out, I'm getting a tan! I've spent quite a few afternoons laying out with friends at various pools or in my own backyard. I know, it's a tough life, but someone's gotta do it!
I finally quit my job as well! It was a wonderful day to walk out of school! I thought I would be sad but after an extemely stressful month, it was a RELIEF! I won't go into details but after 5 yrs of teaching, this past month has been, by far, the most stressful month ever as far as my job went. I'm sure I'll miss parts of teaching (the creativity & the planning & some of the kids) but I'm really looking forward to not spending my Sundays grading & being able to focus on other parts of life.
Since school has been out, I've noticed my back hasn't been hurting nearly as bad as it was. I thought the back pain was due to pregnancy - i guess not! Reagan is also enjoying having me home again- the laundry is actually getting removed from the dryer & folded; I've been cooking real meals again, the house is clean, & I'm relaxed & ready to spend time with him when he gets home rather than crying, venting, sleeping on the couch, trying to cram in errands, or using my "teacher voice" on him! I'm excited for my next career phase- wife & mom & friend & volunteer & who knows what else may be in store! :)
