This weekend, Reagan & I will celebrate our 5th anniversary. I thought I'd tell our story & show some pics from the early days!

I've be reading through my journal from the summer I met him... hilarious! I'll share some quotes along the way.

Reagan & I met officially in a cemetary. That's right- the gravesite of General Franco near Toledo, Spain, in June 2000. I remember commenting to my friends just before being introduced that someone would really have to love him to take his name... little did I know (& how embarrassingly shallow of me!)

While in Spain, we became good friends (we never went out until several months later.)

Following an evening out in "Las Cuevas de La Plaza Mayor," I said this of Reagan... "It was nice to have Reagan with me tonight." One day, we decided with a few other friends to "get lost" via subway & see if we could find our way back home on foot after getting off at the farthest subway stop we could. I wrote of that day, "I could never like him but it's fun to have someone to flirt with." Another day, we took a train to a nearby mountain & climbed it together. Reagan had his Bible & we read scripture & prayed together at the top. We had our first fight there as well (& we weren't even dating yet!) We kind of sort of got lost as I directed us off our train & into an empty town. Fortunately, we found our way back to another train & to the mountain. Of that day I wrote, "I don't like him but it does feel great to hold a hand or have his arm around me. I don't think he has any interest either." Hmmmm....

While studying in Spain, my mom came to visit & I introduced her to Reagan. I commented to her how much I was impressed by his integrity regarding several situations. To this day, one of the things I love most about him is his sense of integrity.

That fall, we began dating. In November of 2002, Reagan flew me to Dayna Point, California where he proposed on the beach. He had my parents waiting for us as soon as I said yes. (His mom was sick & therefore his parents were unable to be there with us.) I was completely surprised & it was so very romantic!

We were married in June of 2003. Our marriage has been wonderful although sometimes very difficult. We both love to travel & we've been fortunate to travel lots in our marriage- the Carribbean, various parts of Mexico, Canada, Kentucky, Florida, Washington, Mediterranean Europe & Northern Africa, Colorado, Idaho, Utah, & Vegas. We've also been fortunate to have been pregnant twice- we have one baby waiting for us in Heaven & one with us now.

I am so blessed to have Reagan as my husband. I am thankful for the security he provides me. I am thankful for the hand to hold & shoulder to cry on in the middle of the night when the pain is too great to bear. I am thankful for his relationship with our Lord. I am thankful for his leadership. I am thankful for his patience with me. I love the way he can make me laugh & smile. I love how well he knows me & gets me.

I may have been unsure in Spain but I am confident that I like him now! ;)
