Have you ever sat at a meal with a child who was misbehaving & been miserable?
Help!!! I'm afraid I might be that mom!
We've worked on table manners with Will for a long time & generally he does really well- if it is just our fam. Last night, a friend joined us with her small children & Will pretty much misbehaved for the entire meal. He had to have a timeout & I felt like I was constantly getting on to him. I realize that he has had almost every single meal of every single day (with the exception of 2 meals with friends last week & the weekend meals with Daddy) for the last 15 days with just me - which means he has my undivided attention at meals. Last night, I was attempting to have an adult conversation with my friend & ugh... it was very frustrating!
Our problems are:
1. squealing/interrupting me: We're working on saying "excuse me, Mommy" - which he is pretty good at but needs reminding - which is fine except that it elongates the time spent interrupting me when I have to pause & remind him & expect him to say it...
2. throwing food/silverware/drink
Any advice/suggestions/encouragement/sympathy you can offer would be very appreciated! Thanks so much!!!
