a Puppy Pawty - the set up of Will's Dog House

Will's 2nd Birthday Puppy Pawty!

Paw prints led the way from our sidewalk to our backyard

I had lots of fun coming up with names for the items on the menu:
Kibbles n Bits = cocoa puffs
Fetch, Fido!= melon balls & also cheese balls
Mystery Milkbones= peanut butter & chocolate chip cookies cut like dog bones
Hot Dogs (of course!)
Puppy Chow
Rawhide Chewsticks= thick pretzels
Owner food=veggies & hummus
I served the food in dog dishes (new & clean- not Ruby's!) & decorated the tables with bandanas & dog statues I found at the Dollar Store

When the kids came through the "doggy door," they went to Will's Puppy Parlor to be "groomed." At the grooming table, they had their faces painted like puppies (sort of - I did my best!), received a dog collar with their name on it, & received their puppy ears - homemade with headbands & felt ears (which Will refused to wear for his party but now loves wearing around the house!)

The flowers were arranged in vases with dog bones. I did have a dog bone casualty earlier in the day when I left one too close to the ground & obviously Ruby was confused. It's not like I typically decorate with edible dog treats so I can't really blame her.

For favor bags, I made "doggy bags" out of brown paper sacks and filled them with puppy chow, bouncy balls, & dog bone shaped crayolas in a bone storage case.

The puppy table for the puppies was decorated with a runner made of newspaper - you know, since they're still puppies! :)

When the kids arrived at the party, they had to go through Will's doghouse & out the doggy door so I could take their picture. Will has loved playing in his dog house!

The kids' drinks - one of my helpers told me Will managed to get 3 juice boxes! (This explains his tummy problems later that night!)

The dog house had a bit of trouble keeping the roof on - especially when I woke up at 3am last week to a huge storm & ran outside in my nightie to rescue the dog house which I had worked way too hard on to start over. The roof, which was already rather precarious, had totally collapsed. Fortunately, my mom was a better roofer than I am & managed to somewhat repair it in time for the party. The puppies could have cared less.

My puppy!

You're getting some really great pictures with your new camera! I'm totally impressed! The party was a huge hit for our girls. Several times each day we pretend to paint a doggie on each other's faces! Thanks for a great memory!
