The Birthday Weekend - final post!!!

Will had his 2 year old well check this week at the pediatrician's. It was a good visit since I didn't have to make any unplanned trips to get either a) blood work to test for more syndromes or b)xrays to test for his skeletal growth & development following the appointment. Funny how doing one of those things after almost every single well check will change your perspective about what constitutes an easy appointment. Well, not really funny but interesting, I should say.
Anyway, Will thought it went ok - didn't particularly care for his shot but loved getting a sticker & a sucker. He also showed off his swimming skills by laying on the floor & demonstrating freestyle to Dr. N. Too funny!
They are thrilled with his development & skills (except we need to improve his counting! - Yikes- hope he doesn't inherit my lack of math skills!)
As far as growth, his head remains at 19 - so no growth there (he reassured me this is not a reason for concern); his length is now 32 3/4" - which is great- he's up to the 10th percentile! His weight, however has actually dropped- both in percentile & in lbs! He is down to 25lbs! I informed Dr. N. that Will is very active- he runs & jumps everywhere & if he is wearing prosthetics than it is like wearing weights while walking/running/jumping. If he is not wearing them, then he must constantly be in motion in order to maintain his balance. Plus, he takes gymnastics class & we swim almost daily - & by swim, he doesn't just splash - he is going under & kicking & moving his arms to get places... & this week he began diving for toys. He is an active little boy. Anyway, the doctor is not too concerned about the weight loss since Will is a decent eater. I am upping his snacks some & we'll see what happens at his next checkup. I so wish I could visit the doctor & have him up my snack intake! :)
All in all - a great appointment! Yay for easy doctor days!

Walking Dover the dog (poor thing gets drug everywhere)

Saying goodbye to Cookie & Lovie on Sunday was really hard on both of them (& me too - wish they didn't live so far away!)

Will really enjoys opening presents now!

The pup had to have a timeout on Saturday evening. I just had to take a picture - he's so cute quietly sitting by the wall.
On Sunday, he hit me & when I smacked his hand & told him no, he defiantly looked at me & hit me hard. So, he got a spank. We both cried as I hated having to discipline him on his real birthday. Oh, parenting is so hard sometimes!

What is this & how do I get inside? - love his expression!

I am loving age 2 - so far! I love the conversations we're having. I love that Will corrected my Spanish today when I was singing - he apparently thought I should pronounce something differently. I love that he is singing along with Bible songs in the car & that he almost has his ABC's down. I love watching him light up when he sees other kids & get so excited about new friends like today in gymnastics when a new kid joined his class. I love the hilarious things he is saying. I love that he is mimicking everything (although we have to be careful about our conversation topics now!) & I love that he loves pretending. Just tonight he played frog all over our living room. Recently he was a cowboy & yesterday he was a lion. He was also a dolphin today at one point, I think. I love how he puts great thought into the decisions I allow him to make (such as which animal towel he will use after his bath.) He loves having some choices & really seems to consider his options - so cute. I love that he knows exactly how to have a timeout & sometime puts himself there- like he just needs some quiet time. I do not love disciplining more - I dread that part of 2.
Ok - I'm tired- a 2 year old is lots of fun but perhaps a little bit of energy is used during the day. I'm off to bed & I love 2!
