Will says it so much better than I ever could...
Will learned this precious prayer song in Sunday School. However, it was his idea to personalize it and I love how he changes it every time he prays. I love how he often opens his eyes to think about what he is thankful for and then he continues singing his thanks to God at the top of his lungs. His teachers have shared that he often sings as loud as he can at church. He loves to pray! Recently, after I gave him his Fisher Price Little People Pilgrims & Indians set, I explained how they gathered together to eat the first turkey meal and they prayed thanks to God. He immediately burst into his prayer - right there on the living room carpet and sang, "Thank you for my people!"
I love how pure his prayers are. I love that he makes no requests of God. Will completely trusts God to meet all of his needs. He simply thanks Him, throughout his day. He often thanks him for specific foods on his plate or specific people in his life. Of course, he often thanks him for baseball & pirates (& their various pieces of equipment.) At night lately he has thanked God for "our night night" & "our family." I love how he is so sincere- he is just talking to God & sharing his heart.
Today, prior to enjoying our Thanksgiving dinner, Will sang our first prayer. You can hear it above (hit pause down below the blog) but I will interpret it here:
"God our Father, God our Father.
Once again, Once again.
Thank you for my Lovie, Cookie, Mommy, and Daddy.
Amen."
Precious.
We are thankful.
We have also been working on a Thanksgiving Bible verse: Psalm 107:1. He can say it by himself but sometimes needs a little prompting. For some odd reason, he most often says it in what he refers to as, "pirate style." Pirate style involves him putting his hand on his eye like an eyepatch & then using a very gruff voice. I'm guessing that David the Psalmist & God in Heaven are cracking up at Will doing a Bible verse pirate style! (At least, I hope they find it funny! :)
Psalm 107:1
Give thanks to God; for He is good. His love endures forever.
He is good & we are so thankful.
Happy Thanksgiving
