Lions & Tigers & Wills! Oh My!

R O A R !

Sometimes he's a lion. Sometimes he's a bear. Sometimes he's a tiger. Sometimes he's a t-rex.

But he's always cute when he roars!

While we were in Tyler for Extreme Home Makeover last week, we went to the zoo! It was a beautiful spring day & so fun! We don't have a zoo out here where we live in the frontier (unless you count Petsmart- which I do) so it's always a special treat when we go see Cookie & Lovie to go to a zoo that doesn't just have a few abandoned cats, some goldfish, parakeets & mice.
Will pretty much ran through the zoo - LOVED it!

We enjoyed a yummy zoo lunch by the giraffes & elephants.

We also don't get many squirrels out here in the Frontier so this squirrel (which was not in captivity, by the way... the zoo doesn't stoop that low!) was fascinating to Will. He loved how close he could get.
One time, in this parakeet exhibit, he actually caught a parakeet in his hands!!! This spring, he was a little afraid & didn't want to feed them himself. In his defense, they were particularly hungry & aggressive that morning...
several landed on Lovie's head!
He roared at the little birds too.

He may be smiling but he's keeping his distance

When Will is just really happy, he swings his right arm. It's adorable. As he ran through the zoo, he had that arm just swinging 90 mph! Happy Boy!

Love how he squats to check out the animals

SO I had a brillant idea last week at the rodeo. When Will turns five, if he is still Cowboy Will, I am going to use my dad's connections at the Rodeo to get him to be one of the kiddos that gets to mutton bust (ride a sheep that hasn't been sheared) on the floor of Reliant Stadium during the Houston Rodeo. It's a huge deal... the kids pictures and names are on the Jumbotrons all over the stadium, they all get trophies and the kid that holds on the longest gets a buckle. :) If he doesn't lose his love of everything cowboy, he would LOVE IT! :)

So cute! We love the zoo--wish we had one in our town too but it's either New Orleans (awesome one) or Hattiesburg (lower scale).
Our first trip to the zoo with you guys in Dallas will always be etched in my mind as one of my favorite days ever...such a gorgeous spring day with great friends.
love ya'll-ejw
