bizarre

Do you know what is bizarre?
Explaining to your two year old, who asks questions way beyond his age about his baby sister, Caroline Ellie Ellie Grace :), and who is missing partial hands and both feet, that his sister, who has hands and feet, is restricted in how she is able to use them.
Do you know what else is bizarre?
Watching your two year old, in his car seat, comprehend this bit of information and then begin doing his "tricks" with his hands and arms and asking each time if his sister will be able to do the same. And telling him that she will have to work really hard to do some of his tricks and that it may be a long time before she is able to do some of the things he can do.
Sometimes it blows my mind to have a child missing hands and feet who is so fully capable and to be carrying a child with hands and feet who, though she will be fully capable in her own right, will take so much work and effort to get there.
Bizarre, really.
