Surgery Update

On Friday, we headed to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children for Will's lowers checkup & Ellie's surgery on her feet.
While waiting for Will's doctor and team, both kids enjoyed checking themselves out.
Will's first smile occurred while looking at himself in one of these exam room mirrors.
3 years later, he still enjoys smiling at himself. :)

While waiting, we also played a family game of pretend baseball.  We only had a pretend ball and pretend bat but thankfully, Will's imagination made up for my not packing the equipment.
He made a homerun every time.

Swing, batter batter.
*disclaimer- despite the fact that the Rangers were playing & we were in Dallas on Friday... Will insisted on wearing his "B's" jersey & hat.  Thankfully, we weren't egged!
(And he was wearing Rangers gear by game time!)
Go Rangers!!!
We grabbed a quick lunch in the cafeteria.  Ellie slept in the front pack - blissfully unaware of what was coming for her that afternoon.
The surgery was quick and we were allowed in the room for the casting.
She is now wearing hard casts to her diaper.  Blood has leaked through in the back. :(
We have some rules to follow - can't get them wet, etc.
It's hard on my to feel such hard casts on her legs & to know they will be covered for 3 weeks.  Not nearly as hard though as imagining the body cast she will wear for 8-10 weeks in just a few months.

Thankfully, it went well.  The doctors were pleased though they can't guarantee they won't need to repeat the procedure later on.  Ellie was pretty cranky and tired all day Friday & was up all night but is getting back into the routine & is a happy girl again now.
Thank you for continually lifting up our Ellie girl.

Katie, you are such an amazing mother to your little ones. Every time you post, I pray for God to strengthen your heart, comfort you and bless your family. I ask Him to give you endurance for the race you are running.

My husband used to be on staff at FBC Irving, which is pretty close to where you are. We are now in Houston, but when I read your blog I wish we were still in DFW and I could do something to help you guys. It seems like your friends and family are doing a great job being the hands and feet of Christ to you. If you are ever in need of a church family while you are in Dallas, please let me know and I will put one of my best friends from First Irving in touch with you. It is a very sweet fellowship of believers. God bless you and your family.
Love,
Amanda Jones
